Before the Storm
Before the Storm was created as a sketch while visiting family in Galveston, TX. I had partnered with a shopkeeper in town to carry my prints of Galveston. Upon my return home, I sent several to her. Within weeks of our visit, Hurricane Ike blew across the island. My prints were destroyed. Our family’s home was severely damaged, and took over a year to repair. Many of the places that I had painted were destroyed or badly damaged. These prints of the Galveston series are a memory of what was ‘before the storm’.
Watercolor realistic impression.
Done in island colors – bright and happy.
Six hours to paint in my studio.
